What is our goal? We must be mindful of this question as we proceed forward in all we do. Our focus should not be consumed with achieving worldly goals. Rather we should be consumed with forgetting what is behind and straining for what is forward in God’s will.
In this way, we will yearn for heaven and the prize of being with Christ. Should this not be the goal in everything? To look up and put our focus on all things of God. “And now I have a word for you who brashly announce, “Today—at the latest, tomorrow—we’re off to such and such a city for the year. We’re going to start a business and make a lot of money.” You don’t know the first thing about tomorrow. You’re nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing. Instead, make it a habit to say, “If the Master wills it and we’re still alive, we’ll do this or that.” James 4:13-15 MSG
When our focus is on the world we will be led astray everytime. The enemy wants our eyes on what everyone else is doing. Getting us angry, sad, and resentful. This is how strongholds form in our lives.
In order to be free we have to do things God’s way. Forgetting is not easy, but it is what will relinquish us from the stronghold of resentment. Without moving through fear, anger, resentment, and sadness we cannot strain forward for what is ahead. Let us go through and not around. God is with us.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 NIV
Considerations for your planner:
- Is forgetting hard for you? How do you move through the hard things? Write down what strongholds are in your life.
A Prayer for Our Community:
God, Thank You for being with us. We need You. We rely on Your presence. It is Your strength that brings us through all the hard stuff. The tough feelings. The things the world tells us to just toughen up about. We need Your healing. Help us to feel and process so that strongholds have no place in our lives. We are looking forward and up to You! Amen.
