Our Calm Comes From Him

Our Calm Comes From Him

Why do we feel the need to take on all the burdens of the world? It is down right exhausting. When anxiety strikes the burden to resolve it grows and it becomes more difficult to cast it all on Him. This is because we try to take it on without Him.

Learning to cast all our anxiety onto Him is counter to the way the world does things. The world would have us amass all the responsibilities onto ourselves. Doing things this way will overwhelm our capacity and keep us distracted from turning to Him for the help we so desperately need.

Our Father in heaven cares about us deeply. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what our capacity is and is ready to help us. All we need to do is lay our anxieties down.

We have to unlearn the way we have handled our worry and anxiety in the past. We must take on new circumstances as opportunities to practice our “casting.” When we can rest in the fact that He cares for us, we are able to cast more easily and quickly. Our calm comes from how much we know He cares for us.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Where do you seek help when you feel worry, fear and anxiety start to creep up? Write it out. Let us learn together how much He cares for us, so that we can cast our woes with ease onto Him.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Father God, Thank You for knowing us so well. Help us to trust in this fact above any other knowledge we have. We want to be able to cast every worry, fear, and anxiety onto You. We need Your help in this area of our lives so much. We want to remain in the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) but we know we cannot when we are taking on all of our anxieties. We love You. Amen.
