Our Willingness Informs Our Generosity

Our Willingness Informs Our Generosity

We do not have to have much to be generous. All we need is a willingness to be generous. Whatever we have to give is sufficient. God wants us to search our hearts for willingness, not obligation. We must turn to Jesus’s teaching in Mark 12:41-44. Many rich individuals gave large amounts of money. Then a widow gave 2 pennies, but it was all she had. Jesus told the disciples that she gave more than anyone, because she gave out of her poverty, not out of her wealth. This is what we are called to do. God can use the least of us to do big things. We simply need to have a willingness to be used by Him. A heart of generosity will do great things for the work of God’s kingdom.

For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.

2 Corinthians 8:12 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Do you ever feel unable to give based on what you have? Write out something small that you can give and challenge yourself to work up to bigger giving with God's help.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Father God, Help us to search our hearts for a willingness to be generous. We want to be used for Your work and we know it starts with our mindset for giving. Shape us to be willing in all that You are calling us to. Let us not turn from what You are beckoning us too. Amen.
