Prayer is Power

Prayer is Power

This is our purpose. We were designed to rejoice, pray and give thanks. When we do what we were meant for, God's provision for our lives is endless. Living life this way helps us to hear His voice and we are able to receive all the direction we seek. Often we do not live this way and thus we find ourselves lost and confused. Our Father is simple and clear on His direction for our lives. We can trust this path and find joy in it. Doing things His way will bring us peace and fulfillment.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

God hears everything we pray. He gives us favor just by talking to Him. Talking to God is prayer. This is how we build our relationship with Him. Just like building any relationship we are able to gain confidence in what we invest into. Praying without ceasing is simply continual conversation with our Father in heaven. When we consistently get to know Him we will trust Him to provide for us. He will give us rest when we need it. He will teach us His ways. His way is love and when His love prevails we all win the prize of salvation.

But I pray to you, Lord, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.

Psalm 69:13 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Do you live each day like 1 Thessalonians directs? Write down how you can do more of any of the things lined out in the scripture.
  • Are you talking to God all day long? Write down what you want your relationship with God to be like.

A Story of Prayer:

I used to think of praying as something that had to be perfect; perfect room, perfect atmosphere, perfect feelings, and a perfect setting. I felt that I could never find the “perfect” circumstances to pray. I found myself neglecting one of the most beautiful and intimate acts of being a follower of Christ. Prayer is one of the strongest weapons we have available and yet, I find praying to be a challenge. I believe that I have complicated what prayer is and what prayer can do.

Over the years, I have personally experienced the power of prayer and have so many amazing stories and testimonies of God’s work, not only in my life, but in the lives of those around me. I have been a witness to life changing miracles, experienced His peace, and His power and strength that overcome sins and struggles. I have learned that praying is not about perfection, but rather praying comes from the heart. God made everyone unique and the way we pray will also be unique and beautiful.

My prayers may not be answered in the very moment I pray them or in the time frame my mind assumes; however, I know that my prayers have been heard by our Almighty God. I know my prayers may not be answered in the way I want, but they will be answered according to His perfect will and plans. I may not understand it all on this side of heaven, but I will continue to pray, and I will continue to trust in the one who does.

Friends I challenge myself and you to pray without ceasing! There is power in prayer. Pray for loved ones, pray for your friends, pray for our leaders, pray for the Church, pray for our pastors, pray for strangers. No matter what, just pray.
