Strength is Learned

We all probably know the scripture, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13) However, do we know the scripture that precedes? It is interesting to read Philippians 4:12. It talks about knowing what it means to be in need and have plenty. It says, “I have learned.” This is so important to remember as we profess the promise that is, “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” We must learn along the way how He gives us strength. All the hard, difficult and bad times are opportunities for us to learn. Through these times we learn how to better surrender our lives to God so that He may be where we derive our every need from. It is then that we know our true strength. A strength that can only come from Him.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Father in Heaven, Thank You for all the opportunities You give us to learn how to trust in You more. We can do all things through Your strength. We pray that the times it takes for us to learn this are few. We want to lean into all that You have for us and we know we cannot do this until we trust You completely. Help us to remember this in the midst of every good and bad time in our lives. Amen.
