When We Believe We Are Not Troubled

When We Believe We Are Not Troubled

As we move through life we must not let the troubles of this world rattle us. Believing in God is our super power. By believing in Him we can trust that we are taken care of. There is no need to worry or fear. This is what Christ was saying in this passage. God has a place for us all. When we believe in Him and that Christ was sent for us, we can know that our place is with Him. Having this knowledge gives us certainty for our lives. We can know the way our life is going and trust that a way will be made for all we venture toward. This is the thing about plans. When we make them absent of God or belief that He has prepared a path specially for us we miss out on moving through life with a peace and grace that is unforced. However, when we put our belief in Him for what He has prepared for us, we are able to move through life with certainty of where we are going.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:1-4 NIV

The way we can seek guidance from moment to moment is with the Holy Spirit. Our Father in Heaven has sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in us for the very specific reason to guide us in all we do. This is the teacher we must tap into as often as possible. We will not be led astray. Rather we will be led by the Spirit that speaks truth into our lives and guides us to the path God has called us to. The Holy Spirit is our friend that gently reminds us of all that God has promised us. A peaceful life is waiting for us when we simply tune in and accept the help. God wants us to have the peace of His certainty and the Holy Spirit can provide that. Allowing the Holy Spirit to speak in our lives alleviates our hearts from being troubled or fearful for what the world sends our way.

“All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:25-27 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Do you feel troubled? Write those troubles down and place your trust in God to intervene in those areas.
  • Are you seeking guidance from moment to moment? Write down what you seek guidance for. Are you seeking guidance from God or others?

A Story of Trust and Certainty:

I am in awe of God's grace and tender mercies as I care for my mother. As her caregiver, I have witnessed her feeding herself, to rejecting her food, to now being fed via peg tube. I have seen her move from clutching the wall for balance, to using her walker for assistance, and she is now bed bound.

While caring for the one who once cared for me can be somewhat overwhelming, I have no doubt that God is present throughout this journey. Though medically untrained, I do what I can to comfort her, and what I have managed to do thus far is divinely guided. Tending wounds...He gives me strength. Feeding Mom by tube to sustain life...He gives me courage to deal with that. When I feel unsure... God sends a renewed breath of confidence.

I am truly grateful for God's grace and my mother’s grace, whom He has blessed for so many years. Although she may not appear to know who I am, I have the assurance that God knows who we are, that He loves us, and that we are not alone.
