Being Present Grows Our Trust

Being Present Grows Our Trust

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Romans 8:26-28 MSG

God never asked us to do life on our own. He knows that our will power is not enough to get us through all that we will face. He has called us to a better way of life. A life dependent on Him.

When we find dependence on Him in all things our trust is able to grow. We find a confidence in life that we could not know without Him. Having confidence in our path helps validate our trust.

What an assurance that even when we do not know what to pray, He is making prayers out of our wordless sighs and aching groans. We can find comfort that He knows us better than we know ourselves. This is why we are called to stay present.

Matthew 6:34 says, “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.” It is when we stay present that we can have complete trust that, “every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.”

Considerations for your planner:

  • What is making you tired currently? Write it down and take some time to intentionally see how God is making prayers for you. Knowing that God is making prayers for you will grow your trust in His provision.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Lord, Help us to come to You in all things. We want to be dependent on You. We are tired. Our willpower is not enough. Help us to know the prayers You are making for us. Let us be filled by Your presence as we become more present in our own lives. We want our trust in You to be the strongest presence in our lives. Amen.
