Staying the course can seem difficult. Maybe it is because it is boring or too predictable. However, staying on the road God has for us is exactly what we are called to do.
When we are walking steadily we are keeping our lives free of temptation that would devour us like a lion. (1 Peter 5:8) God wants the very best for our lives. We are “blessed when we follow His directions.” It really is that simple.
Going off on our own is sure to be met with more difficulty than we can handle. We need God to get us through. Only when we are with Him will we not be given anything we cannot handle. This is because we are handling it with His help.
He has set expectations for our lives. When we follow His expectations, we can see everything working for our good. Whereas, when we follow our expectations we will always be led to disappointment and frustration. Following Him means we are able to fully enjoy all that He has created for us.
You’re blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You’re blessed when you follow his directions, doing your best to find him. That’s right—you don’t go off on your own; you walk straight along the road he set. You, God, prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it.
Psalm 119:1-4 MSG
Considerations for your planner:
- Whose expectations are you following? God’s or yours? Write down the expectations you know He has for your life and see if those align with your expectations.
A Story From Our Community:
I've been a Christian most of my life. But, something was missing. I decided I needed to Praise God more. I was determined to say at least one prayer of praise each week. Be still and know that I Am God (Psalm 46:10). This makes me think of who God told Moses to say sent him (Exodus 3:14). I Am is always present. We just need to be still and know that. I'm now saying a prayer of just praise every day. I started by just praying the psalms, and it has gotten so big. God gives me peace and joy through these prayers.
