“If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. If God doesn’t guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap. It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves?”
Psalm 127:1-2 MSG
When we let grace permeate our lives we are able to live into the joy that the Lord takes in giving us rest. He does not want worry or fear in our lives. He wants to fill every gap and space so that we are fulfilled in every way.
We have to surrender each day so that He builds our house. When we allow the world to speak into our lives we are letting someone other than God do the building. This kind of building will always have cracks and will break when tested in trials and tribulations.
God is the only power strong enough to build in our lives that there will be no weakness. We know we are letting Him build when even in the midst of hardship peace and joy consumes us.
Relying on our human capacity to muscle our way through life will only continue to breed worry, fear, animosity, anger and every ill fitting emotion. Let us remember today what He has already brought us through. We can rest knowing that He has not and will not fail us when we are letting Him do the building.
Considerations for your planner:
- What are you letting speak into your life today? Take a moment to write down the scripture or the people that speak God filled advice into your life.
A Prayer for Our Community:
God, Help us to remember what You have already brought us through. We want to sleep in our storms. We want to hold onto the knowledge that You are bringing us through the fire every time. Let this reminder pull us out of worry, fear, anger and all the other emotions that would aim to steal our joy. We are letting go of logic and going after grace. Amen.
