Learning From Jesus

Learning From Jesus

Jesus’s work on earth was to save us and teach us. He gave us so many examples with His own life on how to live God’s way. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that when we live God’s way we are able to gain the fruits of the Spirit; patience, gentleness, kindness, a willingness to stick with things, and self control to name a few. In this passage Jesus points out the least of us and shows this woman’s incredible strength. She gave in her poverty, while all the others gave in their wealth. The reality is that all we have is His. We simply have to recognize this and relinquish our control. God will provide for us and take care of us. We only need to trust Him. This woman showed us that we can give all that we have and still be ok. As we look to the death and resurrection of Christ, let us remember that it is finished, and we can live our lives trusting in Him over the world.

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

A Prayer for Our Community:

Heavenly Father, we pray that You would help us to learn from You every chance we get. Please open our eyes to see You, our ears to hear You, and our hearts to know You. Help us to soak up Your word and take hold of Your promises for our lives. We know You want to use us just as You used the woman from this scripture to teach Your disciples. Let us be an example of You to those around us. Amen.
