When we ask for God to hear us, we are validated in our asking, as we want to know that He hears us. This simple request is not unfounded. However, we have to be open to hearing His response. He says if we humble ourselves, pray, seek Him and turn from our wicked ways that He will hear us and forgive us. Now we must ask ourselves if we are doing this. Are we humbling ourselves? Are we praying? Are we seeking Him? When we do these things it is tremendously easier to turn from the sin of the world, because we are consumed with His way and not the world's way. Although when we are not seeking humility, praying and reaching out for God our ability to turn from the world is not likely, as we are probably consumed by it. Knowing that God can hear us from heaven is only a part of the salvation equation. We have our part and when we do our part God will surely do His.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

A Prayer for Our Community:
Father God, Thank You for Your responses to our prayers. We are grateful to hear Your voice come through in scripture and into our lives. We pray that we will daily seek Your face so that we may be humbled by the life You have called us to. We know You can hear us and we pray that You would fortify our hearts to this knowledge so that our prayers are filled with confidence. We are open to all that You have for us, but we know it starts with us coming to You. We love You. Amen.
