Prayer is found all throughout scripture. This passage is a prayer from Ezra to God. He is clear in his request for God to hear him and the people of Israel. Like many of us, we seek to be affirmed in our requests. It is not enough to know, but we want validation that we are heard and seen. In this verse Ezra is specifically asking that God validate that He is listening from heaven and that He forgive. This goes to show that we can be validated in the simplest of prayers. We are not expected to just know. God beckons us to call upon Him to reaffirm the things maybe the world tells we ought to know. Instead, He confirms that it is ok to pray to Him for anything. Even to listen. It may seem simple, but it is a big intellectual hurdle to overcome that we know we are being heard.
Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.
2 Chronicles 6:21 NIV

- What is the simplest prayer request you have lifted up to God? Write it out as a reminder that you can pray for anything.
A Prayer for Our Community:
Heavenly Father, We pray today that You would let us know that You hear us. We pray that Your Spirit in us would move us to bring everything we think and do to You. We know we are made stronger when we are in relationship with You. We pray that as we draw closer to You that we would be affirmed in that path of our lives, because we know that Your strength is in us. Should we become uncertain of this knowledge we will seek You more. Amen.
