Walking in Humility Drives Out Fear

Walking in Humility Drives Out Fear

Humbling ourselves can be a difficult task. It requires us to set aside our own expectations and even emotions. To walk in humility takes a tremendous amount of effort and energy. We need God to help us. Being able to humble ourselves begins to come with more ease when we have His words to remind us how. Lamenting on scripture can help us aim for and live out the behavior He wants for us. It is only in this way that He can lift us up. When we live in humility, we offer up our life to Him to move and work through. Any other way does not work. Our fear, anxiety, worry, anger, and selfish ways choke the opportunity for Him to shine through. However, when we cast all of ourselves onto Him and allow our lives to be molded by Him, He can care for us unlike the world would allow us to imagine.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • How do you walk in humility? Write down the expectations and emotions you have in your life that you can actively lay down daily.

A Prayer for Our Community:

God, Help us to walk in humility today and everyday. We want to give our lives to You so that they can be used for all the things You have designed us for. Help us to recognize our own selfishness, so that we may lay those ways down and have our minds renewed to Your ways. Thank You for Your grace over our imperfections and give us the strength to give ourselves grace as we grow into the humble lives You want for us. Amen.
