The reason change is hard is because we do not know how to do it without fear. Change evokes fear and discomfort. We can have a worldly perspective of not looking forward to what the change will bring. This is because it is uncertain. We may know that change is coming, but we do not know what that change will bring. This is why fear accompanies change. This is also why change can be so difficult. It is not the change itself, but the fear of what we do not know. This is why God says to us to be strong and courageous. We do not have to be afraid, because He goes with us. The best part is that He will never leave us. When we hold onto this promise, change can lose the fear of the unknown. In our surrender of not knowing what will tangibly happen we receive comfort of knowing God will be with us to help in whatever comes our way.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
Considerations for your planner:
- What feelings does change evoke in you? Write them down. Give those things to God.
A Prayer for Our Community:
Father God, Help us to hold onto Your promises for our lives. Help us to know You better and more deeply so that we do not have fear in anything that we go through or are about to go through. We need You to guide us. We need You to carry us. We simply need You. Help us to lean into surrendering our need to know to simply trust in what You have already planned. In Your name we pray. Amen.
