Contentment Comes From Him

Contentment in this world can seem hard to attain. Maybe we find it, but find it difficult to maintain. This is because we are seeking contentment in worldly things over heavenly truths.

The only way we can experience real contentment is from God’s presence in our lives. In this way we are able to learn to not let our circumstances dictate how we move through the world.

Stress and worry overcome us when we are victims of our circumstances. However, when we can learn from our circumstances and put everything in the context of trusting God’s provision for our lives we are able to maintain our contentment.

This is because we are not seeking for something in the world to fill us. Rather we are seeking God in our circumstances. Knowing that He is and will provide.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:11-13 NIV

  • Are you letting your circumstances dictate your life? Write down some ways you can learn to seek God in the circumstances you faced or are facing today.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Lord, Help us to seek You more. We can do all things with You. You do strengthen us. Let us find every opportunity in our circumstances to see You at work in our lives. We want to know the secret of being content with little as with much. We do not want our circumstances to consume us. Rather we want them to teach us how to seek You above them. Amen.
