His Ways Inform Our Path

His Ways Inform Our Path

God speaks straight to our hearts. To hear His voice requires our attention if we want to learn the pattern of His ways. Though praise and gratitude we can learn all that He has for us. It is through learning all His ways that our plans for life become more clear. We all have passions and desires for the path of our life. Things that speak to us and get us excited to do work. However, it is only when we learn more about His ways that we are able to uncover the full realm of work we can and are meant to accomplish. His ways are higher than our ways. We can attempt to achieve plans without Him, but they will never be as vast or expansive as what He has in store for us. We are blessed to learn His ways and let Him speak to our hearts so that our plans not only come to fruition, but they become bigger than we could have imagined.

I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.

Psalm 119:7 NIV

This declaration we should speak aloud every day. We should want to do what He tells us to do. In fact, most of us probably prefer to have someone tell us what to do. It certainly makes life easier. So why not do what the one who knows all is telling us? This is the question that probably plagues most of us. It all stems from trust. We must not forget that our trust needs to lie in Him and not humans. When we trust in Him we will do all that He tells us to do. Trust like this keeps us close to Him. Then we can say boldly, “do not leave me Lord or walk away. I need you.” This level of realization requires our humility. To be humbled each day that we need Him in order to live and live to the fullest is the greatest way to understand the path that is before us.

I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me.

Psalm 119:8 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Where is your focus? Write down what it means to place your focus on God and God alone.
  • Do you want God to direct your path? How are you obeying Him? Write down the questions you have for Him.

A Story of Letting God Lead:

I have been praying about if I should make a move from my current job that I have earned more than I could have dreamed of. There has been a price to pay for this. I had a mild stroke from the stress and seem to always be in internal turmoil. I also work every weekend which has not allowed me to have a consistent church life. I will also be driving 2.5 hours a day in my next project.

I’ve gone back and forth for two years about whether I should leave. I have a Real Estate office that wants me to come work for them just 10 minutes away and it’s where I have always wanted to be, which would free up more time to attend church and less stress.

Today while doing my Christian Planner devotional, the biggest thing that stood out to me was doing what He wants for our protection since He already knows the outcome. It hit me so hard I immediately just said, “Lord, I surrender my will. Please let the Holy Spirit speak so loudly I don’t make a mistake in following your path.” I know with certainty He will guide me in making the right decision.
