Love is Obedience

Love is Obedience

These words convey such a simple concept. “If you love me, keep my commands.” Yet the world brings complexity to this. We live in a very if then, then this culture. Our love comes with stipulations. God’s love for us comes without expectation. In fact, His love came with a sacrifice, and not a sacrifice from us, but from Him. When we place this perspective on this request it should be easy to keep His commands. He has loved us with no expectation of anything in return. Thus, we must ask ourselves what our love is worth. If God can give His son to save us, can we not give our obedience to keep His commands? This is the least we can do if we love Him. This is how our love is shown and not just spoken.

If you love me, keep my commands.

John 14:15 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Do you overcomplicate what it means to follow God? Write down what it means to you to keep His commands.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Heavenly Father, Help us to not over complicate things. Help us to see the simplicity of Your love and in turn help us to give that love freely to those around us. We know this is how we obey Your commands. We love You with our whole hearts and we want the world to see Your love through us. Thank You for loving us. Amen.
