Our Growth Comes From Time

Our Growth Comes From Time

Has time ever felt too slow or too fast? Time is such an interesting thing. All that we have to understand time is our perspective of the time for which we have been alive.

This is why when we are children time feels so long and our concept of it is difficult. The time for which we have to compare it to is short. Likewise, when we get older, time feels so fast. This is because we have a longer amount of time in our comprehension.

Grasping God’s capacity requires us to understand that our comprehension of time is not His. The way that the world defines time is limiting. God does not operate with limits. He can do anything.

However, He is always preparing and shaping us. This is why we cannot put our faith in Him on a timeline. We are called to have faith in each step we take, knowing that He is with us making a way. This is why we can take all our circumstances as opportunities to learn and grow in His ways.

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • How are you letting the circumstances of your day teach you? Write down a time of difficulty you had today and ask God what He is teaching you.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Father, Thank You for taking Your time with us. We need Your grace and mercy, as we learn to turn away from the ways of the world. We have been shaped by our culture and now we want to be shaped by You. Help us to turn to You in all things, so that we may move in the way You do rather than the way the world does. Amen.
