The Spirit Fortifies Us Amidst Change

The Spirit Fortifies Us Amidst Change

Learning to live in the Spirit over living in the flesh is what brings us into the ways of God. His ways are above our ways. If we want all the things He has promised; like joy, peace, an ease about life; then we must learn to live His way. (Galatians 5:22-23)

When we are led by the flesh we will not be elevated in any of our circumstances. However, change and difficulty are a part of this life. So how do we embrace the change and difficulty and allow it to renew our minds rather than have us conform to culture? (Romans 12:1-2)

This is a question we must ask ourselves daily. Being governed by the Spirit or being governed by flesh is a choice. When we are continuously aware of this choice we are able to choose accordingly.

Making the choice to live by the Spirit will begin to grow in us a strength that only the Spirit can provide. The flesh is strong, because it is tangible. However, through our awareness of the Spirit's presence we are able to shift our reality of what is tangible and rest in the strength of things we cannot see.

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • Do you sense that you are making a choice between the Spirit and your flesh when making daily decisions? Start to journal your awareness of the choices in your life and see if you can sense it.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Heavenly Father, Our hearts are heavy. The world is strong. Help us to recognize the Spirit's presence. Help us to call on Your help over conforming to the way the world thinks and does things. We want our minds to be renewed and elevated to Your capacity. Be with us in all we do. Amen.
