Our Patience is an Example of Christ

Our Patience is an Example of Christ

Scripture is for us. It is meant to be applied directly to how we are living our lives. Thus, we can ask ourselves, “Have I been shown mercy?” The answer is unequivocally, yes!

Knowing that we have been shown mercy in everything we do must direct how we carry ourselves. It is this fact that helps us walk as the example of Christ to the world. Through Christ’s mercy to us, we are then used to show His mercy to others.

Maybe think about this way. Who has shown us mercy in our lives? Could they have been the light of Christ that shone through to bring us closer to Him?

God uses all of us. Just as someone else is an example of Christ to us, we are that example to another. Let us walk in the patience required to show that we are set apart from the world in Christ.

But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

1 Timothy 1:16 NIV

Considerations for your planner:

  • How would you describe your patience? Is it long, short, dependent on your circumstances? Write it out and see where you can grow in your capacity.

A Prayer for Our Community:

Father, Thank You for showing us mercy. We need Your mercy, because our flesh is strong. We pray that each day we grow closer to You so that we may walk in Your ways and show Your heart to others. Help us to take every opportunity to grow our patience so that we may be more like Christ. Amen.
