Peace in the Midst of Suffering

Peace in the Midst of Suffering

What an incredible picture of Jesus. Reclined at the table with His disciples. To know what was to come, but to have such peace about Him is inspiring. How much could this example of His demeanor inform our behavior in the midst of impending strife? He knew suffering was coming, but He stayed present in the moment enjoying this last meal with His company. He expresses His emotions of sharing that time with them. He was inviting them to be fully in the moment as well. Then with amazing wisdom He says, “I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” He knew His sacrifice was going to be the fulfillment of everything.

When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”

Luke 22:14-16 NIV

A Prayer for Our Community:

Lord, we come to You today asking for Your help to remain present in all we do. We ask that You would fill us with the peace Jesus had in the midst of impending suffering. This world throws difficulty our way all the time, but we know You are with us. Help us to stand boldly in Your resurrection power. Amen.
