What a prophetic word to receive from Jeremiah. Our lives are not our own. Do we live our lives in this reality?
When we realize that our lives are not our own and that we are unable to direct our steps we are finally able to live in surrender. It is in our ownership of our lives that we do not submit our lives to God.
This is why we need to be disciplined in our lives. The world makes us think that we are in control. Learning that God is who directs our steps is when we can start finding harmony and ease in our journey.
God is gracious with us. He gives us so much mercy. This is why He sent His son to save us. We cannot save ourselves. All we can do is unlearn the control we think we have and give our lives completely over to God.
Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Discipline me, Lord, but only in due measure—not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing.
Jeremiah 10:23-24 NIV
Considerations for your planner:
- What do you seek to control most in your life? Write it down. Can you give it to God today and everyday from here?
A Prayer for Our Community:
Heavenly Father, Please help us to unlearn the control we think we have. Help us to surrender everything to You. We want to live in ease and peace throughout our lives. We are now aware that we can only do that when we let You direct our ways. Let us be still and listen more intently to Your nudgings and submit to Your ways. Amen.
